Brentwood Catholic Children's Society . . .

. . . provides counselling for children and young adults, up to the age of eighteen years regardless of their beliefs, together with their families, who could be experiencing emotional difficulties. We employ qualified Social Workers or counselling staff to deliver a caring service, structured and intensive where necessary.
The Society works in partnership with families and other agencies within the ‘Every Child Matters’ legal framework. The prime focus of the work is to provide an early intervention service with families, children and young people and to enable them to address difficulties that may be impeding their educational, social and emotional development.
See our website for some examples of our work.
The cases outlined reflect the dedication and commitment of our Social Workers. They need help, support and encouragement to continue in the well established, enthusiastic approach for which they are renowned.

A very huge thank you to parishioners for supporting our annual walk for Brentwood Catholic Childrens’ Society on 22 June. With 95% of sponsorships collected we have raised over £4.6k incl gift aid. This is the best result in the 10 years we have been walking for bccs.

If you have still to make your sponsorship return please see David Underwood after mass or drop it in to the parish office in an envelope marked “bccs Sponsored Walk 2019”.

On a lovely summer day today (Saturday, 23 June) 48 parishioners from our parish and St Edmund's, Loughton enjoyed the annual circular walk through Epping Forest for Brentwood Catholic Children's Society. We left Becket Centre just after 10am and made our way via Mornington Road, Woodford Golf Course, Butler's Retreat, The Green Ride to the "bikers cafe" at top of Fairmead before returning via Grimston's Oak and Connaught Water to Becket Centre at approx 2pm. Once again our thanks to Franca and CWL for the welcoming spread of refreshments on our return.

Please be generous to the walkers raising funds for this deserving small diocesan charity, details of the work of which can be found here

Donations can be left with Parish Office marked "bccs Sponsored Walk 2018". If you wish to Gift Aid your donation please provide your name and house number / postcode. Thank you in anticipation.

We are currently estimating that once all sponsorship forms have been returned the total sum raised for Brentwood Catholic Children's Society will be approximately £3,000.

If Gift Aid can be claimed successfully on the sponsorships as indicated this could rise to over £3,600.

Thank you to everyone who sponsored the walkers. A great achievement. And much fun too for those that took part supporting this diocesan charity!!!

The sponsored walk for BCCS (Brentwood Catholic Children’s Society) took place on Saturday, 6th June. Fine weather greeted the 37 people (aged from 5 to 65 (!)) from St Thomas' and St Edmund's, Loughton who left the Becket Centre at 11am for the circular walk of approx 9.4miles through Epping Forest - according to one walker's iPhone 19000+ steps! Once again, thank you to Franca and CWL for providing the walkers with some fine refreshments on their return to the Becket Centre at 3.30pm. Over £2,500 was raised.

At 11am on a hot midsummer's day, 25 parishioners from St Thomas' and St Edmund's, Loughton walked out from the Becket Centre to High Beach to raise funds for Brentwood Catholic Children's Society.

Pictured below, clockwise from top left: leaving the Becket Centre; lunch at the biker's cafe at the top of Fairmead Road; on the return leg heading to Fairmead Bottom; the walkers gather for the traditional photo at Grimston's Oak; the children, with Julie Abbott fundraising manager at bccs, proudly display their certificates.

Thanks once again to Franca and the CWL for the very welcome refreshments provided on our return to the Becket Centre at 3pm.

Thank you to everyone who supported the walk this year. A total of over £2100 was raised.

The annual parish sponsored walk took place on Saturday, 15th June when 38 parishioners from the parishes of St Thomas' and St Edmunds', Loughton left the Becket Centre on the 7-mile hike to High Beech and back. We started in glorious sunshine and had great fun. And our spirits could not be dampened by showers at Connaught Water on our way back!

Many thanks to the CWL for the fine refreshments served on our return to the Becket Centre to dry out at approximately 3.30pm. £3074 was raised.

A warm and bright summer's day on Saturday 9th June 2012 greeted the 32 walkers from St Thomas of Canterbury and St Edmunds (Loughton) - pictured above under Grimston's Oak, nr Connaught Water - as we left the Becket Centre on our annual 7-mile sponsored walk to High Beech, in support of Brentwood Catholic Children's Society. The sun even came out later in the afternoon as we returned for refreshments kindly provided by CWL (thank you once again, Franca!).

The event this year was brightened further for us by being joined for the walk by Julie Abbott, fundraising manager at bccs(pictured above, front centre black jacket) who was able to explain the importance to bccs of the sponsored walks that go on throughout the Diocese, being the single biggest means of fundraising for the charity.

The walkers of St Thomas of Canterbury and St Edmunds, Loughton would like to thank all their sponsors for their generosity. With Gift Aid the total raised was approx £2500.

The parish's annual sponsored walk to High Beech for Childcare took place on Saturday, 19 June. It was a great success with over 30 people of all ages taking part, including parishioners from St Edmond's, Loughton. Setting off just after 11am the walkers returned to the Becket Centre at 3.30pm for refreshments kindly provided by CWL.

A big thank you to all our sponsors. With your help we are on target to match or even beat the £1200 raised last year.
