Monday 26th March

  • Mass at St Thomas’: 10am –  Chigwell Convent: 9:30am 

  • Evening Prayer and Exposition 6 to 6.30pm

  • Service of Reconciliation at St Thomas’: 7.30pm

A number of priests will be available to hear confessions.

 

Tuesday 27th March

  • Mass at St Thomas’: 10am - Chigwell Convent: 9:30am.

  • Evening Prayer and Exposition 6 to 6.30pm

 

Wednesday 28th March

  • Mass at St Thomas’: 10am - Chigwell Convent: 9:30

  • Evening Prayer and Exposition 6 to 6.30pm

  • Mass of Chrism (Brentwood Cathedral) @ 7pm – arrive early to ensure you get a seat.

Maundy Thursday 29th March – Mass of the Lord’s Supper

No Morning Mass, Morning Prayer: 10am at St Thomas

Mass of the Lord’s Supper - 8pm at St Thomas’ & Chigwell. (These are the Only Masses celebrated today).  

During Mass a number of parishioners will have their feet washed recalling the “mandatum” that Our Lord gave us:–

“A new commandment I give you, that you love one another; as I have loved you".  

After Mass the Blessed Sacrament is carried in procession to the Altar of Repose. Everyone is invited to watch at the Altar (as the Lord invited his disciples to do in the Garden of Gethsemane). Watching will conclude after Night Prayer at 11pm.

Friday 30th March – Good Friday (Day of Fasting and Abstinence)

Today is the only day in the church’s calendar when Mass is not celebrated.

Morning Prayer: 10am at St Thomas’

10.30 Stations of the Cross for children

Celebration of the Passion of the Lord

3pm at St. Thomas’ and Chigwell Convent.

The collection after the Veneration of the Cross is for the upkeep of the Holy Places in the Holy Land

Stations of the Cross: 8pm – St Thomas’

 

Saturday 31st March – Holy Saturday

On Holy Saturday the church waits at the Lord’s tomb, meditating on his suffering and death.

 

Morning Prayer: 10am at St Thomas’

 

The Polish Blessing of the Easter Baskets “Swieconka” will be held at 11am at St Thomas’. This blessing is one of the most enduring and beloved Polish traditions. Baskets containing a sampling of Easter foods are brought to church to be blessed. All parishioners are welcome to attend.

The normal 6pm Saturday evening Mass is replaced by the Easter Vigil

Easter Vigil & First Mass of Easter

8:00pm at St. Thomas’ & Chigwell Convent.

Everyone is invited to attend this the most solemn and important night of the Church’s year. The Reception into the Church of Catechumens & Candidates takes place during this Mass. Everyone is invited for cheese and wine in the Becket Centre afterwards.

Easter Sunday 1st April -The Resurrection of the Lord

Masses: St. Thomas’ 8.30am, 10am and 11.30am

Chigwell 10am - St. James URC, Buckhurst Hill 9am
