Good News – Streaming Mass is back!

We are pleased to say that Streaming Mass is back at St Thomas. We were overwhelmed by the level of support for streaming mass on social media, by email and in personal conversations. It was clearly demonstrated that this is something that is wanted and needed in our parish. One parishioner wanted to know how to show this to her sick sister, another said that this would have been of enormous comfort to his parents before their deaths when they were unable to get to church any longer. It is clearly the will of the people of the parish that streaming mass should continue. In this respect we are somewhat behind the times. Many churches already show mass online and one parishioner told me that i

Sts Peter & Paul

Their feast falls on Friday of this week. It is a holy-day so there will be mass of the vigil on Thursday at 7.30 pm and at 10am and 8 pm on Friday. Both the evening masses will be celebrated in the Becket Centre because the church is needed for choir rehearsal. As you found out a couple of Sundays ago sometimes Mass in a different setting can be helpful. St Antony’s school will have mass in church at 1.45 pm. Mass at Chigwell will be at 9.30am.

Summer Anniversary Concert

Each year our musicians have outdone their previous year’s success and this year‘s performance will be no different. Please do come on Saturday to hear the outstanding programme Kathy has prepared, rendered by expert musicians. Please buy your ticket today. There are refreshments – as at all great concert halls – in the interval and the caterers need to know for how many they should provide.

The Parish Annual General Meeting

Will take place in the Becket Centre starting about 12.30, on Sunday 15th July. Next weekend the annual report and state of finances will be published. Most important: we need three willing volunteers to offer themselves for election to the Council. Any one ready should seek a nomination form from the parish office. The nomination needs to be supported by two members of the parish, and signed by all three. All nominations must be handed to the office by 1st July. So you have very little time. Forms are available at the back of church or from the office. The Parish Council grows in importance as the clergy age and decrease in number. We are still learning how to galvanise a parish into best p

A Reminder that the next Assisi lunch will be in the Becket Centre on 29th June at 12.30 noon.

Thank you to the parish for your excellent support - there are only a few tickets still available from the parish office. You must bring your tickets with you on the night as there will be a seating plan for those numbered up to No. 123.

Important Message

We recognise how important it is that we pray for those who are sick or in need in our Parish and that it also offers an opportunity for us individually to offer support at a time of need. We do of course, include in our bidding prayers reflection time for the sick of the parish. The new data protection rules has caused us to review how we share this information in the future as there is likely to be a need for the person to consent to their name being published, as a consequence next week will be the last week when the current names will appear. We are working with the Diocese to find a way to include the individual’s name and will of course, keep you posted.

There is more to come: end-of-school events. A parish walk on Saturday 23rd June. A good way to chat to friends and to make new friends walking gently through the forest. A grand concert on Saturday 30thJune. Then the Summer Fete – under new management and promising to be great. The parish AGM will follow the last mass on Sunday 15th July.

A kind pilgrim family has brought back a quantity of Lourdes water for us. If you would like to take some please ask.

Volunteers urgently needed. With enough on the rota it would only be a commitment once every 6-7 weeks and takes less than an hour on a Friday. Full instruction will be given. If you are interested please contact

Fr Isidore sends his grateful thanks to all who sent in Mass cards, cards, and gifts on the occasion of his Golden Jubilee of Priesthood Celebration. Grateful thanks to all those who prepared the church, the choir, servers, sacristan, ushers, the Catholic Women’s League who prepared a veritable feast, and to all who helped in any way. He was overwhelmed by the numbers of those who were able to attend the Mass of Thanksgiving last Saturday. May the Lord bless you and keep you.

Thank you to all that attended the special mass on the grass last Sunday. It was truly a great celebration for our family of St Thomas and we were blessed with good weather. It is certain that this will be regarded as an historic event; something that was enjoyed so much by all and will be repeated many times in the future. We want to capture this day for posterity and a remembrance of what we can accomplish as a family. Pictures & videos of the Mass are available on our website and Facebook page. If anyone has any photos from the event and would like them to be added to our website, please email them to and we will publish them along with a credit. Also if you
