Francis persuaded the Pope to grant a plenary indulgence to all who would come to pray in the little chapel he rebuilt in Assisi. It is the feast of this chapel and event on Friday of this week. This indulgence can be gained in every church now on the feast, following the usual conditions of receiving the sacraments within a reasonable time and praying for the Pope’s intentions

Anniversary - Sunday, 16 July 1769 Father Junipero Serra, a Spanish Franciscan missionary, founds the first Catholic mission in Caliornia on the site of present day San Diego.
