Ushers and Others

Now we have new chairs permanently at the back of the Church would ushers and others please not carry chairs from the Becket Centre into the Church. Similarly would users of the Becket Centre avoid carrying tables and chairs up and down the stairs. Both of these activities are causing repeated damage to the newly decorated areas. If it is felt that the more chairs are needed for the Church please contact the Parish Council or in the case of the Becket Centre rooms contact the Becket Centre Committee.

Top nine cruelty free and Fairtrade products.

One question that regularly pops up in the Fairtrade inbox is 'are there any products that are both Fairtrade and vegan?' Well, wonder no more! The answer is yes – and it’s more than just bananas! This week on the blog we asked our colleague Amy, who works in our business team (and who also happens to be vegan), to pick out her top nine cruelty free and Fairtrade products. Amy says 'I was pleased to find just how many vegan Fairtrade products there are available. And on this search, it was interesting to find that many things I thought were vegan, may, in fact not be (wine, I’m looking at you).' Find out what else she chose just click below. Parish Council

Despite the expectation that nothing happens in August there was a good attendance at the Parish Council meeting last Monday. Kit Tranmer was elected as chair for the year and Isabel Evans as vice-chair. We reaffirmed our policy of managing organisation and events through sub-committees, alongside the various societies and groups the parish comprises, and designated PC members to coordinate the sub-committees.

The Friary Family

Fr George is leaving us this week to take up his new appointment in Glasgow. We thank him for his contribution to our parish during his stay. Fr Patrick is also leaving. His contribution to the parish has been less because of his other duties, but he was a frequent celebrant at weekend masses. We wish them both happiness in their new appointments.
