On Family Fast Day, CAFOD invites us to share in the abundance that God has given us. We are asked to fast, pray and give to help people like Fabiano, who lives in a remote village in Uganda. The area is so hot and dry, people used to struggle to get enough clean water to survive. On Family Fast Day, CAFOD invites us to eat simply – perhaps having a bowl of soup instead of a meal – and give the money we save to help people like Fabiano. Please collect your Fast Day envelope
The Music Group would like to invite anyone with musical skills whether singing or playing an instrument, to join the group. A new pianist would be especially welcome. Please see Chantelle after Mass or telephone Pat on 8504 2017 to discuss further.
The autumn count of attendance at weekend masses has to be taken today and on the next 3 Sundays. Please take special care to record the number present at each of the masses at St Thomas and also at St James Buckhurst Hill and Chigwell Convent. These should be sent to the Parish Office.

A very huge thank you to parishioners for supporting our annual walk for Brentwood Catholic Childrens’ Society on 22 June. With 95% of sponsorships now collected we have raised over £4.6k incl gift aid. This is the best result in the 10 years we have been walking for bccs. If you have still to make your sponsorship return please see David Underwood after mass or drop it in to the parish office in an envelope marked “bccs Sponsored Walk 2019”.
On Monday 14th October you are all cordially invited to a social in the Becket. It is well-known that when a parish has to raise money the need generates much good social engagement. So that will be the main topic of the evening. We will tell where we are in our process of renewing our ageing buildings and some future planning. And we hope you will come brimming with ideas of how we will start paying the bills. This is a major event for St Thomas. Do keep the evening free.
