I hope you will come to the meeting today shortly after the end of the 11.30 Mass. Large changes lie ahead. It is better to anticipate what is needed and to take an active part in shaping the future of our part of the Brentwood Diocese, than simply to wait till others decide.
So far the discussions about a partnership between our 3 parishes have shown a desire to cooperate. Certainly there is a sense that it is you the lay people who have to make the decisions. An amalgamation into one seems neither possible nor desirable. Instead we are three families, not in competition or desire to dominate, but rather to work in harmony and mutual help.
Key to this future is our Parish Council and its Finance Committee. You have seen a brief summary of the achievement of the past year. What lies ahead can be invigorating to those who take part. Possibly depressing to those who take no share in fashioning it.
