Two Sundays ago you gave our Foreign Missions £4500. Last Sunday you added more than £1000 to the purse of the parish’ SVP. Their funds were below £50, and what you have given will soon be converted into groceries and the basic needs of our families that are struggling. The dedicated members who go out to find and meet the needs have asked me to thank you for such generosity, and I thank you too. Feeding, clothing, sheltering homeless, visiting sick and imprisoned – these are the tell-tale indicators of whether we are truly followers of Jesus, or just interested in ourselves. We are hearing much about re-structuring and amalgamations of parishes. There is no substitute for being close to the families and people who are in need.
