Even the secular press gave space last weekend to the canonization of our fellow countryman. The Times even suggested him to have been the greatest Victorian. He has been a considerable influence in shaping our current understanding of our faith and its practice. Most noteworthy his insistence on the rightful place of the laity in our church, and the development of doctrine. Do we need to talk more about these?
