Holy Week

We have received instructions from Rome – no less – telling us what we must not do in our Holy Week liturgies. There must be no processions and no singing. I shall miss the drum next Sunday. Instead we will use our imaginations. From the sanctuary the priest will read the Gospel of the excited people pulling down palm branches to honour Jesus. Picture a sunny day on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem. Imagine Jesus riding the donkey down the hill and up into Jerusalem. Quickly then the cheering Hosannas turn to the cry of Crucify him as we hear the Passion of the mass.
