ST THOMAS OF CANTERBURY
Woodford Green
First Holy Communion

Sacramental Preparation
Organised by parents and catechists. It extends over a period of 8 months during which time catechetical sessions are arranged for the children together with meetings for parents.
Details are always given in the parish newsletter. Names must be entered before the cut-off date which is published in the parish newsletter.
Who can register?
We will only accept children registered at our Parish who have been baptised and who will be going into Year 3 in September 2025.
How is the programme structured?
The programme consists of eight teaching sessions which will take place across the year from September to May. There will be five teaching sessions just for children which take place on Saturday mornings from 10am-12pm. Two of the sessions are for parents and children and will take place on either a Wednesday evening or Saturday morning. The final session is a teaching Mass for both parents and children.
100% attendance is essential but if any child misses more than 2 out of the 8 sessions they will have to restart the programme the following year.
Children joining the programme will be placed into a smaller teaching group. In order for the children to fully understand and participate in the programme, we expect to see them at Mass regularly during and after their First Holy Communion preparation.
When will the First Holy Communion Masses take place?
First Holy Communion Masses will take place from May to June. The information on this enrolment form will be used to produce their First Holy Communion certificate.
